    DIY Easter cards

I've always loved getting the mail. Growing up, I'd check the mailbox after getting off the school bus or walk our dog to the mailbox to see what we got. Every once in a while, there would be a letter in the mail waiting for me.

Receiving a letter in the mail with your name on it never gets old. There is something so sincere and personal about it. I love communicating through letters. Knowing how I feel about receiving letters, I know other people feel that way as well.

With that being said, I love sending letters to other people. Writing out an encouraging message and personalizing it with a simple sketch on the front brings me so much joy.

If you love writing letters like I do, you will love these 3 handmade DIY Easter cards. After all, homemade is always better than store bought. These 3 handmade Easter cards are simple and easy to create yet so cute and will bring a smile to all those you end up gifting to.

Let's create a handmade Easter card together!

Why You Will Love These 3 DIY Easter Cards

Easter Basket - One of these cards would be a sweet touch to an Easter basket you are gifting someone. Weather it is your kiddo, spouse, or a friend, receiving one of these homemade cards with kind words will be something so meaningful to them.

To the Host - For most of you out there, you spend your Easter with other people, with family. Now, maybe some of you have the honors of hosting but for some of you, you are going to another home to have a meal. If that is the case, gifting one of these cards to the host to show your appreciation would be special.

Simple - Now, you are like me, you aren't this crazy artist that can freehand beautiful drawings. If you are like that, teach me your ways! But for those of you like me, you want to be able to create a homemade card for someone but not have to draw something super hard or extensive. These cards are for you! They are simple yet so cute.

Options - Out of these 3 cards, there is guaranteed one to be your kind of style! If you are a Christian like us and celebrating Easter means celebrating the resurrection of Jesus, there is one for you! Maybe you love the bright colors and flowers of Easter, we have one for you. You may also love the animals of Easter like bunnies! If that is the case, we have one for you. You get to choose your favorite!

Supplies You May Need For DIY Easter Cards

Colored Pencils - You can never go wrong with Crayola colored pencils!

Sharpener - Having a sharpener for your colored pencils will make your handmade cards so much easier to do. Using sharp colored pencils will mean more defined lines.

Ruler - Having a ruler as a guide for one of the cards will make it so much smoother than without one.

Pencil - Using a pencil to trace things out and write out words before you go over it in colored pencil or marker will ensure it looks just how you want it to!

    He is Risen!

    He is Risen DIY Card

A perfect card for those who celebrate the resurrection of Jesus on Easter!

For this card, start by using a ruler and a pencil to trace the outline of a cross. The size of it will depend on how big your card is.

After the cross is made, trace over the pencil marks using a dark green colored pencil.

Then, create a "vine" going the whole way around the cross. Do this by creating small petals going around the cross in a lighter green color. I kept the petals going in the same direction the whole way around the cross.

Once the petals are drawn on and you have "vines" going the whole way around the cross, it is time for the last step! Finish it by writing "He is Risen" across the center of the cross.

    Easter Wreath

This next card is a simple Easter wreath with bright pastel colors that just scream Easter!

For this card, start by tracing something circular, about a 3-inch diameter, using a pencil. I used the mouth of a mason jar.

Once traced in pencil, go over it using a dark green colored pencil.

With that same-colored color pencil, make petals going the whole way around the circle. I did groups of 3 petals. I created this look by making a petal on either side of the circle at the same height then adding one slightly above the two in the center of them. Make sure to leave a bit of room between the groups of petals.

Taking your favorite pastel colors, like pink and yellow, make little dots in between the groups of petals. These little dots will resemble small flowers.

Finish off this card by writing "Happy Easter" in the center of the wreath.

    Hoppy Easter

This one is for all the Easter bunny loving people out there! This would be a great one to give to a child.

For this card, start by roughly creating the outline of the back of a small bunny. I did this by making a rough circle that was flat at the bottom. Then, added ears on top of the circle by drawing shapes similar to a flower petal but larger. Lastly, I created a small tail in the bottom corner of the circle by drawing a "cloud."

Once the small bunny is drawn, shade over the bunny using a tan colored pencil. I shaded outside of the bunny lines because I liked the imperfect look of it. Do what you like best!
