A Little Note from Our Kitchen to Yours
My husband and I love consistency and simplicity within our meals. We often rotate between meals with chicken, beef, and every once in a while, we will include fish in the rotation.
A favorite of ours is salmon. It is versatile in how you cook it and can be made super refreshing or more in a comfort food kind of way.
This baked honey garlic salmon is the perfect dinner rotation dish. The salmon comes out perfectly flakey and tender and is full of flavor from the sweet and savory sauce.
If you love salmon and want to spice up your dinner rotation a bit, you will love this recipe!

Ingredients
Salmon - I have found that using once frozen salmon works just as good as using fresh. Although, fresh salmon will have a creamier texture and enhanced flavor.
Honey - I love using raw honey from a local bee stand.
Garlic - I love mincing my garlic with a handheld grater. No garlic gets wasted.
Soy sauce
Red pepper flakes
Lemon juice - fresh lemon juice makes all the difference compared to a store-bought concentrate.
Olive oil - just a little bit to cook our garlic in.
Salt
Pepper
Green onions (optional for garnishing)
Tools You Will Need
Oven safe, medium sized skillet
Measuring cups
Measuring spoons

Ingredients Swaps
Fish - If salmon isn't your favorite but you still want to enjoy this dish, try using trout (rainbow or steelhead) bass, or mahi mahi.
Coconut aminos - For a soy free option, try using coconut aminos. It won't alter the taste at all!
Maple Syrup - Maple syrup is a great swap to the honey if that works better for you.
Hot Sauce - A classic hot sauce can be substituted in for the red pepper flakes. You can also omit the spice altogether if desired.
Vinegar - If you are out of lemon juice but have white vinegar on hand, that can be used instead.
Parsley - If green onions aren't your thing but you want a nice garnish, try fresh parsley.
How to Make Baked Honey Garlic Salmon Step-by-Step
To start, set out the salmon about 30 minutes before you are ready to use it.
In a medium sized oven safe saucepan over medium heat, add in the bit of oil and the minced garlic. Allow the garlic to cook until it is fragrant. Stirring it every so often so the garlic doesn't burn.

Once the garlic is fragrant, add in the honey, garlic, soy sauce, red pepper flakes, lemon juice, salt and pepper into the garlic. Keep the ingredients on medium heat and bring them to a simmer.

Once the sauce is simmering turn down the heat to low, add in the salmon filets and using a spoon, baste the salmon with the sauce for about 3 minutes to get those sauce flavors to soak into the sauce. This looks like taking a large spoon, ladling the sauce in it, and spooning it over the salmon.

Place the salmon that is in the sauce in the oven heated to 375 degrees for 8 -10 minutes until the salmon is fork flakey and tender. The salmon should reach 145 degrees for fully cooked fish. Although, for a more medium rare and flakier texture, 135 is that sweet spot.
Top with chopped green onions and enjoy!

Tips
- For even baking, try to choose/slice salmon filets that are equal in size.
- Allowing the salmon to come to room temperature before cooking also helps to ensure even cooking.
- For a spice free version (AKA more kid friendly) feel free to omit the red pepper flakes.
- Check the salmon every so often when it is baking in the oven. Catching it before it gets too baked will make or break it.
Why You'll love this Dish
Quick - With being a mom myself, I always look for ways to maximize my time. This looks like getting meals on the table in 30 minutes or under. Thankfully, this baked honey garlic salmon checks that box. It is a mom (and just a life) win!
Delicious - Quick and delicious?! Yes please! All the flavors that are in the sauce soak into the fish from the basting process, making it super tasty and not lacking in deliciousness one bit.
Healthy - Salmon is full of healthy fats and omega threes. This dish is also made with raw honey and can be made soy free for an even healthier option. Quick, delicious, AND healthy is a win win win!
FAQs
What are some common side dishes for glazed salmon?
Vegetables/Greens
Steamed broccoli - Steamed broccoli adds a soft and slightly crunchy texture with a natural light sweetness mixed with earthiness.
Steamed carrots - Steamed carrots provide a texture balance with the salmon. They are tender while the salmon is soft and flakey.
Ceasar salad - Light, simple, yet full of flavor.
Carbs
Roasted red skin potatoes - Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.
Stove top white rice - A great side to soak up the honey garlic glaze.
Homemade no knead bread - You can never go wrong with homemade bread.
How long to cook glazed salmon?
Glazed salmon has a quick cook time. The sauce cooks on the stove top just until it starts to simmer, the salmon gets added, basted for 5 minutes and into the oven it goes at 375 for 8 to 10 minutes or until the salmon is flakey and fork tender.

Storing Baked Honey Garlic Salmon
Allow the baked salmon to come to room temperature. Place the room temperature salmon in an airtight container (I love these glass Tupperware containers with latch sides). This will keep in the fridge for 3 to 4 days. After day 4, the quality of the fish will go down, however it may still be good to eat. Always check for spoilage before eating.
