Chocolate dipped pretzels are the perfect sweet and salty holiday treat! They're a wonderful homemade gift to give to family, friends and neighbors as well as a yummy snack to enjoy with hot cocoa.

How to Make Chocolate Dipped Pretzels With Peppermint Drizzle
First, melt the dark chocolate over a double broiler on the stove or in the microwave.

Once the chocolate is melted, dunk the mini pretzels in it, flipping them with a fork, and shaking them a bit to get excess off with the fork.

Place the covered pretzels on a parchment lined baking sheet. After the pretzels are dipped in chocolate, sprinkle the crushed peppermint on top. Then, place the chocolate dipped pretzels in the freezer to set.

While the chocolate is setting in the freezer, do another double broiler and melt the white chocolate. By the time the white chocolate is melted, the pretzels will be set enough.

Remove the pretzels from the freezer and use a fork to drizzle the white chocolate over the pretzels.

Place back into the freezer or fridge and allow to set again.
Once set, the pretzels are ready to enjoy!

Tips To Make Chocolate Dipped Pretzels From Scratch
If you don't have a double broiler stove, you can easily create one. Simply place about an inch of water in a pot over medium heat. Bring it to a boil, then turn the heat down to simmer. Next, place a heat safe glass bowl on top of the pot and melt the chocolate in that bowl, stirring often until smooth.
Also, a fork works really well to flip the pretzels in the chocolate. In order to maintain a pretty pretzel shape, shake off excess chocolate before placing the pretzel on the baking sheet.

How to Store Chocolate Dipped Pretzels
Chocolate covered pretzels, believe it or not, are best stored at room temperature. Keep them in an airtight container to prevent them from becoming stale as well as to prevent them from tasting like any odors in the air. An Airtight container will also help to keep them crunchy.
To keep the chocolate from melting, store them in a cool, dark place. Avoid keeping them in direct sunlight or heat.
If stored properly, your homemade chocolate covered pretzels will last for about 2 to 3 weeks.

In Summary
One of my favorite Christmas Eve traditions is going to my Grandma's house. Our family enjoys a meal together, we read the Christmas story from the Bible and sing carols together by candlelight.
Lastly, we share and open gifts. Presents are saved for the end because, to us, it's the least important part. It is, though, so much fun to watch everyone's reaction to the gifts they receive!
Every year I would make chocolate dipped pretzels for my cousins. They knew it was coming each year yet loved it just as much as the year before.
In my opinion, gifts that involve food are some of the best to give and to receive as well. I think you'll find that to be true also once you whip up a batch of these chocolate dipped pretzels!
Put on your favorite Christmas carols, sip some homemade hot chocolate (with the best homemade marshmallows from Farmhouse On Boone, of course) and get to work!

Chocolate Dipped Pretzels
Chocolate dipped pretzels are the perfect sweet and salty snack for the holiday season. Give them to your friends, family and neighbors, too!
Ingredients
- 50 Mini Pretzel twists (or 24 pretzel rods)
- 12 dark chocolate
- 3 Ounces White Chocolate (for drizzling)
- ¼ Cup Candy Canes, crushed
Instructions
1. To start, melt the dark chocolate using a double broiler or in the microwave. I prefer a double broiler because it helps the chocolate melt evenly and it really does melt it quickly.
2. Once the dark chocolate is melted, dunk the pretzels in it, flipping them with a fork, and shaking them a bit to get excess off with the fork.
3. Place the covered pretzels on a parchment lined baking sheet. Once all of your pretzels are covered, sprinkle them with the crushed candy canes and place them in the freezer.
4. While the dark chocolate is setting in the freezer, do another double broiler and melt the white chocolate. By the time the white chocolate is melted, the pretzels will be set enough.
5. Remove the pretzels from the freezer and use a fork to drizzle the white chocolate over the pretzels. I did half of mine with the white chocolate for some variety.
6. Place back into the freezer or fridge and allow to set again.
7. Enjoy!
Notes
