Learn how to create a sweet and salty dessert board for Valentine's Day! Both you and your husband will love munching on these treats all evening long.
In this season with young kids, most of my date nights are spent at home. Personally, I love this! Doing a date night in is so cozy.
What do you and your husband like to do for a date night in? Maybe you play games (our favorite is Skip-Bo!) while sipping on homemade hot cocoa. Or, perhaps you cuddle up on the couch together while watching your favorite movie.
However you choose to spend your quality time together, a dessert board most certainly needs to be added into the mix!
I put together this adorable and delicious dessert board for my husband and he absolutely loved it (and so did I!). It's perfect for any date night, but also a special way to celebrate Valentine's Day at home! In fact, if you choose to do a family date night, I know your littles would enjoy this, too.

FAQs
What is the 3-3-3 rule?
The 3-3-3 rule states that there should be 3 meats, 3 cheese, 3 crackers, and 3 extra add-ins on your board. This helps create equal balance within a charcuterie board and ensures there will be enough for all that are eating it!
What is the most popular food for Valentines Day?
Chocolate is the most popular Valentines Day food. It would be great to include this in your charcuterie board! Whether that is with a chocolate bar, brownies, or fondue to dip your fruit in.
What are the best cheese for a charcuterie board?
When it comes to the best cheeses, it is important to acknowledge texture. Having different varieties of textures of cheeses will ensure there is something for everyone! Some good hard cheeses are parmesan, gouda or asiago. Another kind of cheese is firm cheese like Manchego, Colby, or cheddar. As well as adding in a semi soft cheese like Havarti or muenster. And the list goes on and on!
How to Make Your Own Rose out of Salami Meat

This blog post from Planning Inspired walks you through how to make a rose out of salami meat to add onto your charcuterie board. It is a fun and creative way to spice up your Valentine's Day charcuterie board.

I also love this post by Mama Did It that shows 4 ways to style prosciutto. This will help give you inspiration for how to style the meat on your board!
How to Make a Valentines Day Charcuterie Board for Two
To start, prep your ingredients. This looks like washing and drying the fruit, slicing or cubing the cheese, and rolling the meat.

Now let's assemble the board! First, lay down the cheese on the board. Arrange it here and there in the corners and middle of the board.

Second, add on the meat to the board. I like to place the meat next to the cheese to bring out the colors.

Thirdly, I added in the crackers onto the board. I like to arrange them in lines and piles. There is no right and wrong when it comes to assembling the charcuterie board!

One of the best parts is adding in the fruit! This really helps the board pop and can give it a valentines feel depending on what kind of fruit you pick.

Now, add in any sweets you may be using. We used chocolate, as it is Valentines Day and that adds a romantic feel. We also did chocolate covered pretzels.

Lastly, it is time for finishing touches! Add in any flowers or herbs in empty spaces and peaking around the board.
Your beautiful Valentine's Day Charcuterie Board is all done and ready to be enjoyed!
