Lavender Latte
This homemade lavender latte is slightly floral, perfectly sweet, and oh so refreshing. A great way to spice up your usual coffee in a spring way.
Ingredients
for the lavender simple syrup
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup granulated sugar
For the latte
- ¾ cup milk of choice
- ½ cup strongly brewed coffee or 2 shots espresso
- 2 Tablespoons homemade lavender simple syrup
Instructions
- To start, let's make the homemade simple syrup. In a small saucepan, combine the 1 cup water, 1 cup granulated sugar, and 2 tablespoons dried culinary lavender.
- Place the saucepan on high heat and allow to come to a boil then turn down to a simmer. Simmer the mixture for 5-10 minutes.
- Remove from the heat and pour everything into a jar to allow to cool for 15-30 minutes. I like to put mine in the fridge to speed this process along.
- Once those 15-30 minutes are up, run the simple syrup through a fine mesh strainer to remove the culinary lavender.
- Store in an airtight container/ jar in the fridge.
- To make the latte, brew ½ cup of strong coffee or two shots of espresso if using an espresso machine. Set aside.
- If using an espresso machine, froth ¾ cups of milk. If you don't have an espresso machine you can heat the ¾ cup of milk on the stove until steaming and pour into a mason jar. Put a lid on the milk and shake for about 30 seconds or until there's a noticeable frothed layer. You can also use a handheld frother with this.
- To the strongly brewed coffee, add in the 2 tablespoons of simply syrup and stir until combined. Top it off with the hot frothed milk and enjoy!
Notes
If making this latte iced, allow the coffee to cool slightly, add in lots of ice, the 2 tablespoons of simple syrup, and top with ¾ cup cold milk.

My husband and I recently got a small espresso machine. My husband has been a huge coffee lover for years and within the past year or so I have hopped on that train as well. Since having a baby, looking forward to a little something to boost my energy has been a game changer.
Now, I can't do straight black coffee, but I do love and enjoy a good latte. My go to is maple syrup, cinnamon, nutmeg, and a bit of milk. However, with spring officially being here, I wanted to switch it up a bit.
Learning how to make a lavender latte has been so fun! It is a slightly floral latte that has the perfect amount of sweetness. I also love that it is warm and cozy on cool spring days but also tastes delicious made over ice.
How to Make a Lavender Latte Step - by - Step
Step 1: Lavendar simple syrup

To make the lavender simple syrup, combine the sugar, water, and dried culinary lavender into a small saucepan. Place over medium heat and stir it until it comes to a boil. Once the mixture is boiling, lower the heat and simmer the syrup for 5 to 10 minutes.

Remove the mixture from the stovetop and pour into a jar/bowl. Place it in the fridge and allow to cool for 15-30 minutes.

Once the syrup has cooled down for a bit, run it through a fine mesh strainer. Place in a sealed container and store in the fridge.
Step 2: Strongly brewed coffee

Our base for this lavender latte is going to be ½ cup of strongly brewed coffee. This can also be 2 shots of espresso. Once brewed set aside.
Step 3: Milk
If you are making this latte without an espresso machine and wanting it hot, you can use a handheld frother or you can froth your milk over the stove top. To do the stove top method, heat your milk in a small saucepan, pour into a jar and seal with a lid. Shake the milk for about 30 seconds or until there is a noticeable layer of froth. For an iced latte, no froth is needed.
Step 4: Assemble
Hot version

To assemble the lavender latte, place the hot strongly brewed coffee in a mug. Add in 2 Tablespoons of the homemade lavender simple syrup. Top it all off with the frothed milk. Enjoy!
Iced version

To a mason jar, add in lots of ice cubes. Pour your strongly brewed coffee over the ice cubes and add in 2 Tablespoons of the lavender simply syrup. Pour ¾ cup of milk over it all. Finish it off with more ice as needed and enjoy!
Tips
- If making this latte iced, allowing the strongly brewed coffee to sit a bit before assembling will prevent a watery latte.
- The lavender simple syrup does not need to completely cool before use.
- Be careful to not steep the syrup too long before straining as that can alter the flavor.
- To make this an easy addition to your lattes, try adding a syrup dispenser to your mason jar.

Coffee - You'll want strongly brewed coffee for this recipe. If using an espresso machine, two shots of espresso work great! We enjoy using Peet's espresso beans for our machine.

Dried culinary lavender - This is the most important ingredient in the homemade simple syrup. The one linked is very affordable and comes in bulk. When getting tried lavender, be sure that it is culinary lavender. This makes it safe to consume.
