This crockpot Salisbury steak recipe checks off all the qualifications for a delicious crockpot meal. It requires minimal prep time, is made with simple ingredients, and gives a delicious and cozy meal.
The start of Salisbury steak partially comes from a doctor named James H. Salisbury. Dr. James was a man that heavily believed in a meat centered diet to promote health and reduce digestive issues. Don't you love a meal that is nutritious and full of nutrients?!
In this recipe, the ground beef is mixed with ingredients to add moisture and flavor. The "steaks" are seared to lock in that flavor and then a peppercorn sauce is made to pour on top.
Let's make crockpot Salisbury steaks together!
How to Make Crockpot Salisbury Steaks Step-by-Step
The Steaks

To start, add your ground beef to a medium sized bowl. To the ground beef, add in the egg, breadcrumbs, Worcestershire sauce, minced garlic cloves, salt, pepper, onion powder, and garlic powder. Mix all the ingredients together until everything is evenly distributed.

Second, shape the "steaks" by taking a ball of meat and shaping it into an oval shape similar to a hamburger.
Once the "steaks" are shaped, turn a skillet on medium heat and allow it to become very hot.

When the pan is hot, place the formed patties in the skillet and brown on each side for 2 to 3 minutes. You don't want them cooked through; you just want to get a nice sear on each side. Repeat this process with all the patties then place them in the bottom of the crockpot.
The Peppercorn Sauce

To make the peppercorn sauce, in a small saucepan, add in the butter on medium heat and allow it to melt. Once melted, add in the thinly sliced onion, minced garlic and the peppercorns. Allow to cook until the onions are translucent and the peppercorn and garlic are aeromantic.

To the onions and peppercorns, add in the flour and stir until the onions become very thick with the flour. This will help make our sauce thick and creamy.

To the flour, slowly add in the beef broth and then follow it with the heavy cream. Allow the sauce to simmer and stir constantly to allow it to thicken.

Once the sauce is thick, pour it over the "steaks" in the crockpot.
Turn the crockpot on high for 6 hours or on low for 3. The temperature should reach 160 degrees Fahrenheit.
Once done, serve the Salisbury steaks immediately as desired.
