I love walking into a kitchen that makes me feel calm, cozy and at peace. There's no clutter on the counter, beeswax candles are burning, and no knead bread is baking in my favorite enamel dutch oven.

One of the best ways to create a kitchen with this domestic bliss is by having a space that functions well. My kitchen works for me. I've stocked every cupboard and drawer with spatulas, wooden spoons, and all of the kitchen tools that work best for my family and I.

Wether I'm cooking soup or baking bread, each of these kitchen utensils add so much value to my home because they simplify my life! I also love how much they add to my kitchen's homey appeal.

    Wooden Kitchen Utensils (Amazon Finds)

For an earthy, handcrafted look, try these wooden utensils! I love their rustic appearance without sacrificing quality.

My favorite set of wooden kitchen utensils from Amazon!

    Soup Ladle

This wooden soup ladle is great for dishing out soup!

I'd use this soup ladle to make our creamy sausage tortellini soup, classic tomato soup, or crockpot Italian wedding soup! As a child, I adored Little House On The Prairie (if you haven't watched it or read the books, I suggest you do so!). So, anytime I use this ladle to serve a bowl of soup it feels like I've gone back in time, which I love.

    Spatulas

99% of the time I'm using my cast iron for cooking. Using these wooden spatulas to make eggs works fabulously! I've also utilized them to cook ground beef for stuffed peppers . It's nice to have a spatula with slits on the bottom to let the extra grease drain.

    Bread Spurtle

If you make sourdough bread multiple times a week like I do, then you'll benefit greatly from this kitchen utensil! Personally, I'd use a spurtle to mix my sourdough starter when I feed it or to bring together a shaggy dough.

Some of my favorite bread recipes to make include sourdough bread ( I use the recipe from Little Spoon Farm) and dinner rolls!

    Whisk

Owning a whisk is a must-have for any homemaker. Whenever I'm making a dessert such as sourdough coffee cake or sourdough chocolate chip cookies, you'll find me with this whisk in hand.

    Salad Servers

    caesar salad with wooden tongs

Lately, caesar salad has been on our dinner menu quite frequently. There's something so elegant and slightly fancy about using wooden salad servers rather than the classic tongs. It definitely makes me feel like I'm back in the 1800s!

    Slotted Spoon

    steamed broccoli in cast iron

Cooking pasta or anything with sauce requires a slotted spoon for easy serving! I'll use this to serve homemade hamburger helper as well as steamed broccoli (to prevent a watery serving).

    Silicone Spatulas

Silicone spatulas work great for making cookies or muffins.

Silicone utensils are great for baking! For me, these work great to scoop out batter and dough (like when I'm making banana bread muffins) that sticks to the inside of a mixing bowl.

These measuring cups work great when mixing together a bread dough!

Again, measuring cups are a necessity for any home cook! One of my favorite things about this kitchen utensil is how beautiful the copper coating is! I use them for countless recipes to measure out my ingredients.

Okay, this tool gets used on the daily here in my house. While it may not have the most rustic, elegant appearance, it is sturdy and very high quality! My husband uses it to grill our homemade burgers. I also use it to cut slices of meatloaf!

If You Only Buy 5 Kitchen Utensils...

Creating a hygge focused kitchen can't only prioritize comfort, warmth, and a cozy space to gather. It also has to be completely functional and best suited to the rhythms of your growing family.

For those of you who are overwhelmed and don't know where to start, these are my top 5 recommendations of what I would personally purchase for my own kitchen.

Use copper measuring cups to measure sugar, flour, and any ingredient you need to!
    1. Invest in the full wooden utensils set! Not a single day goes by where I don't have a wooden cooking tool in hand. I'd definitely grab the full set so that I have everything utensil on hand.
    2. Get the copper measuring cups. Measuring cups are essential for just about any recipe. Wether it's baking bread, cooking soup, creating a skillet meal or a fancy dinner at home, you need those measuring tools!
    3. Invest in the Lamson slotted turner. We use the slotted turner spatula literally every single day to make eggs in our cast iron skillet. It's my husband's favorite tool, too!
    4. Purchase the vintage cookie scoop. Baking cookies is always fun, but it's more fun when you use a classy little vintage scoop! Plus, there's no mess for your fingers.
    5. The bread spurtle is a must have for any bread baker. Wether you're just beginning your homemade bread journey or you're years into it, if you don't own a spurtle, now is the time to get one!
